07.08.08: The Artist's Statement Ah Seattle. A veritable epicenter of all things "indie-rock." But what about the art scene? While there are a few spots about town that are indeed showcasing some very nice work (i'd like to take this opportunity to to give a strong wuddup to Cairo, which just opened on capitol hill), the majority of artists must resign to hang the fruits of their labors on the walls of ubiquitous coffee shops about town. And why not? Seattle-ites drink more coffee than water anyway. It's called taking advantage of a captive audience. In any case, I discovered one of the most mind-blowing "artist statements" of all time while waiting for my 12 oz double soy latte at Victrola (i know!!! so seattle, right?!?!?).
